Bolivia: teachers protest in the streets against Arce’s policies

A group of Bolivian teachers protested on Monday in La Paz, Bolivia, demanding better salaries and the revision of a curriculum that they call “indoctrinating” amid claims going on for several weeks in the South American country.

The teachers claim that the Arce Executive has promoted a supposed dialogue with the sector, but no progress has been made.

The teachers have already gone on strike for up to 48 hours to pressure the Government to accept their demands.

Among the claims raised by the teachers is the lack of sufficient budget for the sector, an issue to which the Government of the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) has responded that it “does not have money” to increase educational investment.

Specifically, the members of the union reproach Arce’s intention to implement educational contents that promote gender ideology and favor the government party’s political vision.

Other cities in the country were also the scene of this type of demonstration at the beginning of the week.
