São Paulo Again Sets Record of Confirmed Covid-19 Cases (June 25th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – With 9,765 new cases confirmed in 24 hours, the state of São Paulo has broken the record for daily coronavirus cases for the second straight day. As a result, the state has now reached 248,587 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past 24 hours, the state counted 406 new deaths from Covid-19 and now totals 13,759 fatalities.

According to São Paulo State Secretary of Health José Henrique Germann, the numbers of cases and deaths are within the government’s projections for the month of June.

The state counts 5,608 patients hospitalized in intensive care units (ICU) for suspected or confirmed coronavirus cases, in addition to 8,369 patients hospitalized in wards. The ICU bed occupancy rate in the state currently stands at around 65.5 percent, while in Greater São Paulo it stands at 67.9 percent. The total number of cured patients, after being discharged from hospital, totaled 40,859 yesterday.
