Covid-19: Brazil Records 23,101 More Confirmed Cases (August 16th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The balance released yesterday, August 16th, by the Ministry of Health, shows 620 new deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, totaling 107,852 lives lost to the virus since the start of the pandemic.

In addition, 23,101 new cases were recorded, totaling 3,340,197 cumulative cases, of which 2,432,456 (72.8 percent) have recovered.

The states with the highest number of Covid-19 deaths are São Paulo (26,852), Rio de Janeiro (14,562), Ceará (8,133), Pernambuco (7,188), and Pará (5,940).

The states with the least deaths from the pandemic are Tocantins (511), Roraima (568), Acre (576), Amapá (613), and Mato Grosso do Sul (626).

The states with the highest number of confirmed cases of the disease are São Paulo (699,493), Bahia (216,030), Ceará (197,619), Rio de Janeiro (194,279), and Pará (177,969).

The states with the least recorded infections are Acre (22,548), Mato Grosso do Sul (36,836), Tocantins (36,989), Amapá (39,518), and Roraima (39,623).
