Covid-19: Brazil Records 2.73 Million Infections and 94,100 Deaths (August 2nd)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Another 541 people have died because of Covid-19 in Brazil, according to official records on Sunday, August 2nd.

As a result, the total number of deaths has reached 94,104 since March – 45 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The data is from the Ministry of Health and is available online.

According to Sunday’s data update, 25,800 people have been infected with the virus since Saturday.

The balance totals 2.733 million people infected with the novel coronavirus – 1,301 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. According to the Ministry, 1.883 million people have recovered from the infection.

The Southeast Region records a total of 942,948 cases of Covid-19 infection, followed by the Northeast with 878,100 cases. In the North of the country, there are 414,492 cases, 259,509 in the Midwest, and 238,627 infections in the South.

The State of São Paulo, the most populous and with the highest number of infections, now records 6,397 more cases, totaling 558,685 cases since the start of the pandemic – 1,217 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

In this period, the state totaled 23,317 deaths – 81 new victims recorded on Sunday – 51 records per 100,000 inhabitants.
