Covid-19: Brazil hits new daily death record, says Fiocruz

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The country yesterday, February 25th, hit a new record for daily covid-19 deaths, according to the seven-day rolling average measured by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation’s (Fiocruz) Covid-Monitora report.

According to the report, 1,148 deaths were registered yesterday. It was the second straight record-setting day as the day before, February 24th, 1,123 deaths were registered.

The number of deaths yesterday was also 8.5% higher than observed 14 days ago (1,058) and 9.2% above the total number of deaths a month ago (1,052).

Cases

The report also pointed out that the number of daily confirmed cases, according to the seven-day rolling average, reached 51,405, 13.3% more than 14 days ago (45,373 cases) and 0.9% higher than the previous month (50,925).
