Covid-19: Brazil Counts Total of 3.05 Million Cases, 101,700 Deaths (August 10th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Since the start of the pandemic, Brazil has accumulated 3,057,470 cases of Covid-19, according to the daily balance released yesterday, August 10th, by the Ministry of Health.

Since Sunday, 22,048 new cases have been reported by Health Secretariats. On Sunday, August 9th, the panel registered 3,035,422 infections since the start of counting.

The number of deaths now totals 101,752. There are further 3,569 deaths under investigation. In the past 24 hours, 703 deaths have been recorded. On Sunday, the Ministry of Health’s system recorded 101,049 deaths.

Currently, 791,096 Covid-19 patients are under monitoring. The number of people recovered reaches 2,163,812.

The daily numbers of cases and deaths are lower on Sundays and Mondays due to the shortage of staff to feed databases over the weekends. In general, on Tuesdays, the number of cases is higher, because the daily balance includes the number of cases recorded on previous days.

The lethality rate (number of deaths divided by total cases) stood at 3.3 percent. The mortality rate (number of deaths per 100,000 inhabitants) reached 48.4, while the incidence of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants stands at 1,454.9.

Covid-19 in the states

The states with the highest number of deaths from Covid-19 are São Paulo (25,151), Rio de Janeiro (14,108), Ceará (7,979), Pernambuco (6,970), and Pará (5,893).

The states with the fewest deaths were Tocantins (461), Mato Grosso do Sul (523), Roraima (547), Acre (562), and Amapá (603).
