Brazil Records Three Million Covid-19 Cases and 101,000 Deaths (August 9th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Sunday, August 9th, the Ministry of Health released new figures on the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the country.

According to the portfolio’s daily survey , Brazil accounts for 3,035,422 confirmed cases of the disease and 101,049 recorded deaths. There are 2,118,460 recovered cases. In the past 24 hours, the Ministry recorded 23,010 new cases and 572 deaths.

The state of São Paulo has the highest number of accumulated cases since the start of the pandemic, with 627,126 cases and 25,114 deaths. Next are the states of Bahia (193,029 cases and 3,953 deaths), Ceará (188,542 cases and 7,954 deaths), and Rio de Janeiro (178,850 cases and 14,080 deaths).

According to the Ministry of Health, 3,566 cases are under investigation.
