Covid-19 Milestones: Brazil Nears 100,000 Deaths, 3 Million Cases (August 7th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil is nearing the mark of 100,000 reported deaths from the novel coronavirus. In the past 24 hours, 1,079 deaths have been recorded, bringing the total lives lost to 99,572. The data are from the Ministry of Health.

The number of cases is nearing the three million mark. Over the past 24 hours, 50,230 new infections have been recorded. Contaminations total 2,962,442.

Only one country in the world counts higher figures than Brazil: the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 4,858,596 people have been infected on American soil (56,105 more than Thursday) and 158,887 have died (1,256 more deaths in 24 hours).
