Covid-19: Brazil Records Another 10,500 Confirmed Cases in 24 Hours (November 8th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil has reached 5.66 million cumulative cases of infection by the novel coronavirus. Over the past 24 hours, 10,554 new confirmed Covid-19 cases were reported, totaling 5,664,115.

The data are included in the Ministry of Health’s bulletin, released November 8th. The body consolidates daily data submitted by state Health Secretariats throughout Brazil. However, due to the the collapse of internal systems over the past week, the balance reported on Sunday did not include new patients under follow-up, thereby maintaining the data released in the November 4th report, totaling 364,575 patients. The same applies to people who have already recovered from the disease, totaling 5,064,344.

According to the portfolio, the total number of deaths from the pandemic stands at 162,397. Over the past 24 hours, the Health Secretariats have added 128 new deaths to the statistics.

Covid-19 in the states

The state of São Paulo leads the number of cases and deaths by the novel coronavirus in the country since the start of the pandemic. In all, the state totals 1,125,936 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 39,717 fatalities. The data from São Paulo have also not been updated and are the same as in the November 5th report.

Rio de Janeiro comes second in the death statistics with 20,905 fatalities, followed by Ceará (9,395), Minas Gerais (9,204), and Pernambuco (8,732).

The states with the lowest number of deaths are Roraima (695), Acre (699), Amapá (751), Tocantins (1,114), and Rondônia (1,476).
