“Today We Have a President Who Believes in God,” Says Bolsonaro

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In his Christmas address on national TV, on December 24th, President Jair Bolsonaro said that today Brazil has a president who “values the family, respects the will of his people, honors his military and believes in God.” Bolsonaro also used the time to celebrate what he called “some achievements” of his first year in office.

“The positive numbers in the economy, the drop in crime rates, the significant increase in tourists, the 13th salary of the Bolsa Família, the success of Enem and our agribusiness, the law of economic freedom and the works done by the army’s engineering battalions, demonstrate Brazil’s new directions,” said the president.

He also said he had the opportunity to choose “22 ministers by technical criteria” and that he took office after an ethical, moral and economic crisis.

Together with First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro, who wore a red T-shirt stamped with the word “Jesus”, the president again said that the government is finishing its first year “without any corruption complaints.
