RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Mexican entrepreneur Carlos Slim Domit, son of Carlos Slim, the owner of América Movil and one of the richest businessmen in the world, has submitted to President Jair Bolsonaro a plan to invest the equivalent of R$30 billion (US$7.5 billion) over the next three years in Brazil.
On leaving the meeting, held on Wednesday afternoon at the Planalto Palace, Domit said that it had been a courtesy visit and that the contribution of resources will be made primarily to expand the infrastructure required for the development of new services and also cloud solutions for data storage.
The businessman said that the investment is a reflection of the country’s significance for the development of Latin America.
Upon leaving the meeting, Domit announced the company’s interest in the development of 5G technology in Brazil. “We will be active and with great interest,” he said.
When asked if he has a preference for any technology supplier company for the 5G market, he was tactful. “We work with everyone. We have a good relationship with everyone”, he added.
Regarding the time when the 5G auction should be held, he used a similar discourse. He stated that the ideal would be that the technology is established within a strategy of “great investment, great coverage, and development of many services for the development of the country”.
