São Paulo Police Arrest Ten for Theft of two Million Masks, 15,000 Coronavirus Tests

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The masks and tests were stolen on Monday, April 6th. In a sting operation, police officers passed themselves off as buyers of the goods and pledged to pay R$3 million for the tests.

According to police, the suspects were storing the supplies in a warehouse in the Ipiranga neighborhood, south of the capital. Police officers from the Department of Strategic Operations (DOPE) arrested ten suspected members of the gang that stole the equipment from Guarulhos International Airport on Saturday.

During the operation, the site was surrounded by police officers. The theft was made from an importing company.

By 7:50 PM on Saturday, April 11th, the police were still removing the seized items from the site. Much of it was found in a room inside the warehouse.
