RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Portugal has maintained travel restrictions to and from Brazil and the United Kingdom, the government has announced, according to Lusa news agency.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Saturday, February 27th, in a statement that air traffic restrictions remain in place until March 16th and that flights to and from Brazil and the United Kingdom are suspended.
Flights, to and from mainland Portugal, and to and from countries belonging to the European Union and countries associated with the Schengen Area, are authorized.
Also “exclusively essential” trips to and from countries that are not part of the European Union or that are not associated with the Schengen Area are authorized, as well as support for the return of nationals or those legally resident in Portugal, Lusa news agency reported.
Passengers, with the exception of children under the age of two, must present a negative PCR test, carried out 72 hours before departure.
Boarding is also permitted for nationals of third countries with legal residence in the country, according to the Ministry of Internal Administration. The government also allows flights for the repatriation of foreign citizens who are in mainland Portugal.
Citizens from countries where the incidence rate is equal to or greater than 500 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, must self-isolate for 14 days, “except for essential trips in national territory, certified by return ticket that does not exceed 48 hours,” in addition to presenting the test.
