RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Carlos, Eduardo, and Flávio Bolsonaro are leaders of a network specializing in slander campaigns and fake news using messaging apps. The statement is by a PSL federal deputy Joice Hasselmann.

According to the deputy, who spoke with UOL before recording the program “Roda Viva”, on TV Cultura, the president’s sons keep employees who create fake profiles on social media, such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Twitter.

Joice said that Jair Bolsonaro’s sons would act through at least 20 fake profiles, which feed a network of 1,500 sites that drives information, a “digital militia”, in the deputy’s words. “It’s not just fake news, it’s also smear campaigns,” she said.

She says she will report it to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office and lodge a complaint with the Ethics Committee in the Chamber of Deputies.

The deputy, recently removed as the PSL party leader in the Chamber of Deputies, says she has reached her limits in her relationship with Jair Bolsonaro’s sons but says she maintains her relationship with the president, including exchanging messages via WhatsApp.

The federal deputy also said during the interview that “there has never been as much interference from a family with power” as there is in the government of President Jair Bolsonaro.

The interviewee said she agrees with a statement made by former President Fernando Henrique Cardoso earlier this year when he opined that Bolsonaro’s government is the “return of a sort of monarchy”.
