Bolsonaro Says New Covid-19 Test Was Negative

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Almost three weeks after testing positive for Covid-19, President Jair Bolsonaro said on Saturday, July 25th, that the results of a new test were negative. The announcement was shared on social media.

“RT-PCR for Sars-Cov 2: negative. Good morning everyone”, he posted. The President referred to the RT-PCR, which is the main diagnostic test to identify the active presence of the Covid-19 virus in the body.

Bolsonaro is 65 years old and has been under treatment since the past July 7th, when he was diagnosed positive for the novel coronavirus. Since then, he has been in isolation at the Alvorada Palace, where he has met with ministers by videoconference.

Last Wednesday, July 22nd, Bolsonaro had tested positive for the virus.
