RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – German wind energy equipment manufacturer Nordex said Thursday, June 24, that it had reached an agreement with electricity company AES Brasil to supply and install 55 N163/5.X model turbines for the 314-megawatt (MW) Cajuína wind farm.

According to a statement from the European company, the order from AES Corp’s subsidiary in Brazil also includes the services related to the turbines for a period of five years, with an option to extend for another 20 years.

The start of the turbines’ installation, which will be delivered in a specific 5.7 MW operating mode, is scheduled for the summer of 2022, Nordex added. The project is located 100 kilometers west of Natal, the capital of Rio Grande do Norte state.

The turbines, including the wind blades and the 120-meter-high concrete structures, will be built in Brazil after the German company obtained accreditation for financing lines from Finame, linked to the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).
