Lula da Silva wants public policies to be centralized in the Planalto

At the meeting to be held next Friday (6th) with his senior assistants, the inaugurated president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), should centralize decisions on the main public policies of his government at the Planalto Palace.

Lula da Silva’s decision would have the objective of avoiding tensions among the members of the government, as happened with the Minister of Social Security, Carlos Lupi, and with the head of the Civil House, Rui Costa, when they gave different statements about a possible reform of the social security system.

Last Tuesday (3), Lupi defended changes to the reform approved in 2016, but was denied by Rui Costa, this Wednesday (4), who said that there was no government intention in this regard.

Another issue that also caused internal wear and tear in the government on the first day of its term was the end of fuel tax exemptions. Lula da Silva was convinced to extend the exemption made by the Bolsonaro government after having indicated the revocation of the measure.
