Lula da Silva negotiates two ministries with the União Brasil party in exchange for support, says newspaper

Brazil’s President-elect Lula da Silva is said to negotiate two ministries with the powerful União Brasil party, the acronym of Luciano Bivar, in exchange for support in Congress.

The idea is that União Brasil will nominate one name from its bench of deputies and another from the bench of senators. The information is from the site Conexão Política.

União Brasil resulted from last year’s merger between the Social Liberal Party (PSL) and the Democrats (DEM).

In 2023, the party will have 59 seats in the House and 10 in the Senate. It is the third largest representation in the number of congress members in both houses.

According to Conexão Política, the nomination of the two names to compose Lula da Silva’s ministry should occur soon after the vote on the PEC.

A little more than ten days before the beginning of the new government, Lula da Silva is still negotiating alliances with the parties to close the composition of the ministries.
