Lula da Silva admits having difficulties in forming government teams

The leftist President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has admitted that the Government is having particular difficulties in forming teams due to the presence still in the institutions of “dozens of infiltrated bolsonaristas”.

“We must have a little patience because we have been in government for 40 days.”

“We haven’t even managed to put together the teams yet, because we have to get rid of the dozen bolsonaristas who are infiltrated”, Lula acknowledged this week during an event held in Salvador, reports ‘O Globo’.

Since he arrived at the Planalto Palace, he has been intensifying this sort of purge of the institutions, especially after the occupation of the Ministries last Jan. 8, which called into question the role of several high commanders of the forces of order for the alleged omission of their functions.

Some of the appointments that Jair Bolsonaro left designated in regulatory agencies, embassies, and even for command positions in law enforcement were vetoed.

The goal is also to purge the positions occupied by sympathizers of Lava Jato, the anti-corruption operation that was shown to have illegally sent President Lula to prison.

Among the bodies that raise the most suspicions within the new Government is the Institutional Security Office (GSI), once commanded by General Augusto Heleno Ribeiro, a man trusted by the former president, and from which 80 military personnel have been exonerated, among them his ‘number two’.

The Federal Highway Police (PRF) has been another focus of the new Government’s attention, as evidenced by the dismissal of 26 of the 27 regional superintendents of the institution.
