The Civil Police reported that teams from the DHM (Multiple Homicide Police Station) and DHPP (Department of Homicide and Protection of Persons) are investigating the crime. When asked, it did not provide details regarding perpetration or motivation for the murders.

In a statement, the state security secretariat said one of the suspects involved in the quadruple homicide died in a clash with the state police on Friday in Itinga, in the metropolitan area of Salvador.

According to the commander of the 81st Independent State Police Corporation, Major Sérgio Dias, the officers were on alert because there was information about the escape to the region of one of those involved.

“The police officers were waiting for the arrival of a winch for the removal of a vehicle with theft restriction when another car with three men arrived and found the garrison. They exited the second vehicle shooting,” he said.

According to the police, one of the men fled and the other two were shot and killed, one of them is suspected of having been involved in the murder of the drivers.

Delegate José Bezerra, director of DHPP, said that the suspect was not identified as he was undocumented, but that “everything would suggest” he was part of the gang involved in the murders.
