Ebanx Exceeds US$1 Billion in Market Value, Becomes Brazil’s Latest “Unicorn”

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The startup company Ebanx Payments reported on Wednesday, October 16th, that a new contribution from the US fund FTV Capital helped it to exceed the mark. According to Estadão, Ebanx is expected to generate revenue of US$150 million in 2019, 50 percent more than last year.

Much of the revenue comes from payment solutions that help foreign companies establish themselves in Latin America.

The startup from Paraná offers its services to companies such as Spotify and Airbnb (in partnership with Worldline), as well as AliExpress, Wish and Gearbest, and expects to process more than US$2 billion in payments this year, according to TechCrunch.

Since September, Ebanx has been processing vouchers and bank transfer payments to Uber in Brazil and other Latin American countries. The company has also partnered with Visa to increase electronic payments in Paraná and with companies such as Coursera, Scribd and Shopify.

Founded in 2012, the startup also o provides market intelligence solutions, analysis, anti-fraud strategies, marketing consulting and 24-hour customer service to partner companies in Latin America.

“We have a deep knowledge of the Latin American market. We are close to consumers and always attentive to the needs of our partner websites,” says Alphonse Voigt, co-founder, and CEO of Ebanx.

“In order to be successful in Latin America, it is very important to understand the specificities of each country, and this is exactly what Ebanx offers”.

In December 2017, the company had already received a contribution of US$30 million from FTV, with the involvement of Endeavor Catalyst. The new investment should help expand Ebanx Pay, a payment solution for local businesses.

The service was introduced in the Brazilian market in April this year and should be taken to Colombia in 2020.
