Brazil’s Pre-salt Oil Production Grows 4.6 Percent From September to October

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In relation to October 2018, the increase reached 30.1 percent. In total, 2.39 million barrels of oil equivalent (unit of measure that includes gas and oil) were produced per day, between 1.9 million barrels of oil and 77.6 million cubic meters of natural gas.

This daily production corresponds to 63.1 percent of the total oil and gas produced in the country. The data were released yesterday, December 2nd, by the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP).

Considering all oil fields (pre-salt, post-salt and onshore), national production totaled 3.79 million barrels of oil equivalent, of which 2.96 million barrels of oil and 132 million cubic meters of natural gas.

Oil production recorded an increase of 1.3 percent over the previous month and 13.4 percent over October 2018, while natural gas production recorded an increase of 2.1 percent over the previous month and 12.4 percent over October 2018.

The fields operated by Petrobras produced 92.9 percent of the country’s oil and gas. The Lula field, in the Santos Basin, produced the most oil, an average of 1.02 million barrels per day, and natural gas, an average of 43 million cubic meters per day.

The Cidade de Itaguaí floating production platform (FPSO), in the Lula field, produced the most oil in the month (145,600 barrels per day).

The Arara Center, which produces in the fields of Arara Azul, Araracanga, Carapanaúba, Cupiúba, Rio Urucu, and Sudoeste Urucu, produced 8.4 million cubic meters per day and is the plant with the highest production of natural gas.
