Ambassador Yang Wanming says China and Brazil must ‘strengthen mutual trust’

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – With the progression of Brazil’s Covid CPI and the release of Itamaraty documents showing tensions between China and the Brazilian government, it is Chinese Ambassador Yang Wanming who has taken on the role of mediator in the conflict.

Recently, the diplomat wrote an article with a message to the ‘crazy’ Bolsonarists who insist on beating the so-called Chinese “communism.”

In the text, Wanming made it clear that Xi Jinping’s government is against “ideological confrontation.”

Now, in a new text, the ambassador says the government of Jair Bolsonaro and China must “strengthen mutual trust” and “intensify learning with each other” to pursue “national prosperity and social well-being.”

China, the Covid CPI noted, warned Brazil that political attacks should not stand in the way of supplying vaccines to Butantan and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation.

“As President Xi Jinping pointed out, the diversity and interaction among different civilizations, social systems, and development paths can give a strong impetus to human progress.”

“As the largest developing countries in the Eastern and Western Hemispheres, China and Brazil define their development paths and governance philosophies according to their respective historical and cultural backgrounds but share common goals in the pursuit of national prosperity and social well-being.”

“Given the new conjunctures, it becomes even more necessary for both sides to intensify mutual learning and strengthen mutual trust,” the ambassador said.
