Today in Barbados, Venezuela’s government and opposition will announce an election agreement, writes G1 in its latest report.

Norway will help mediate the meeting. Brazil played a key role, with former Minister Celso Amorim attending.

According to Brazilian officials, next year’s Venezuelan election will have international monitors and free press, writes G1

Every candidate can run. In return, the U.S. is expected to remove sanctions on Venezuelan oil.

Celso Amorim says the roadmap to the elections is essential. It will include press freedom and international oversight.

Lula’s advisor emphasized that lifting U.S. sanctions is also crucial. It will help stability in Venezuela and the whole region.

Background Brazil Aids Venezuela Election Deal

Venezuela has faced political unrest and economic hardship for years. The country’s oil-rich economy took a hit due to falling oil prices.

Sanctions from the U.S. made things even harder. Brazil and Venezuela share a long border and strong trade ties.

Brazil has a vested interest in a stable Venezuela. This isn’t Brazil’s first involvement in Venezuelan matters.

Former President Lula had engaged with Venezuelan leaders in the past. Today’s agreement could be a turning point for the region, offering hope for a more stable future.
