Brazil Sets Sights on Hosting 2027 Women’s World Cup

FIFA recently identified Brazil as a potential venue for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

The announcement occurred at a FIFA Council meeting. On May 17, a vote to decide the host will take place.

This event is part of FIFA’s 74th Annual Congress in Bangkok. Soon after the vote, FIFA will announce the results to the public. Brazil aims to host the Women’s World Cup for the first time.

European nations and a joint USA-Mexico bid challenge Brazil in hosting global sporting events.

The event will bring together 32 teams, including Brazil, which seeks its inaugural championship win.

Brazil’s President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, endorses the country’s bid. In a speech last March at the Palácio da Alvorada, he expressed strong support.

Lula emphasized the event’s potential to enhance political activism and promote gender equality.

He also highlighted Brazil’s advanced urban infrastructure and sports facilities, an improvement since hosting events in 2014.
