São Paulo: Governor Tarcísio announces six new subway stations on the future 6 – Orange Line

The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), informed this Wednesday, 31, that six more subway stations will be built in the future 6 – Orange Line.

Five kilometers of work will be added.

According to the politician, the project is in the study phase, and there will be four more stops southbound and two more northbound, with no definition yet on the location of the new stops.

“We must take advantage of the mobilization we already have here. We have two vats”, he pointed out.

With 16 stations, the project goes from the São Joaquim stop – connection with the 2 – Blue Line – to the Pátio Morro Grande station in the city’s south zone.

“We know how delicate a project of this nature is.”

“The Tatuzão goes 75 meters below the surface, but the first step has to be taken”, emphasized the governor of São Paulo.

With an initial forecast to be delivered in 2021, the  6 – Orange Line line presented delays in the works and stalled the contract with the Move SP consortium in 2016.

The São Paulo state government started working with a deadline to deliver the works for the second half of 2025.

The Republican also pointed out that the previous problems on the 6 – Orange Line have been solved and that he feels “calm” about the continuity of the works.

“Look at who was the original contractor for these works; they were companies that had problems with Lava Jato,” he considered.
