Brazil’s individual microentrepreneur tax will increase: know how much and when

The increase in the minimum wage to R$1,320, given by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will cause an increase in the contribution of the Individual Microentrepreneur (MEI), published Folha de S.Paulo on Tuesday (9).

The new charge will come into force as of June 20.

Until this month, the Collection Document of the National Simple (DAS) continues with the collection on the old value of the minimum wage of R$1,302.

The MEI tax base will rise to R$66 monthly, representing 5% of the new minimum wage.

MEIs in commerce, industry, and transport services add up R$1 in Value-Added Tax (ICMS), so now they must pay R$67 to operate.

Individual micro-entrepreneurs who work with services generally will pay R$71 per month because they add R$5 Service Tax (ISS).

Those who work in both sectors will pay R$72 per month.

The MEI Truck Driver tax, 12% of the minimum wage, will increase the base to R$158.40.

With ISS and ICMS, the collection reaches R$164.40 per month.
