Brazil has the potential to become the 2nd largest grain producer in the world, says the president of ApexBrasil

On Tuesday, 25, Jorge Viana, the president of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), spoke about the current moment of Brazilian agriculture and cattle-raising at the Spain-Brazil Business Meeting held in Madrid.

According to Viana, Brazil can be the world’s second-largest exporter of grains, surpassing even the European Union (EU), due to the Federal Government’s vast technical knowledge and support.

“The Brazilian agribusiness, agricultural production, and cattle breeding already accumulate a lot of knowledge in technology that, added to the government’s efforts, and certainly without deforesting more, will produce much more and better.”

The president of ApexBrasil also discussed the possibility of setting an agreement between Mercosur and the EU.

This subject should be discussed during the visit of President Lula (PT) in Madrid this week.

Viana said that Europe has realized that Brazil is once again an important international player and that the conclusion of the agreement depends only on political issues.

President Lula also attended the event, discussing the agreement between the economic blocks.

According to Lula, the Mercosur countries are committed to setting the agreement by 2023, and the proposal has been a “dream” since his first mandate in 2003.
