Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court (STF) will start between April 18 and 24 the virtual trial against 100 people arrested for the events of January 8, when the headquarters of the three branches of power were occupied in Brasília.
The process was convened by the president of the STF, Justice Rosa Weber, and it will determine whether the criminal actions against these 100 detainees will finally go forward.
At present, 294 people are still being held for the events of January.
Initially, 2,151 people were arrested, and 745 were released immediately.
In March, 129 people were also released from prison and subjected to reporting regimes with preventive measures and electronic shackles.
Most detainees still being processed by the Brazilian justice system are charged with “incitement to crime and criminal association”.
