By Rodrigo Vilela

The retired former president of the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF), Marco Aurélio Mello, exempted former president Jair Bolsonaro from guilt regarding the invasions of the Three Powers buildings on January 8 in Brasília and blamed the STF itself for the situation.

The statements were recorded in an interview with O Globo newspaper.

Marco Aurélio evaluates that the STF “failed” to overturn the convictions of President Lula in Operation Lava Jato (Car Wash) and return the political rights that allowed him to compete in the 2022 elections.
