Bolivia: two years since Jeanine Áñez’s imprisonment

The former president of Bolivia, Jeanine Áñez, published on Monday a letter after completing two years of unjust detention by the regime of Luis Arce.

In the message, she emphasized how, from the power, they have failed to present any objective evidence that compromises her in terrorist acts, sedition, or conspiracy.

“Every judge without jurisdiction has forced me to inquisitorial hearings, where four parties repeat what the fifth says, where six times the prosecutors ask to increase my preventive detention saying the same thing (that they have not been able to take other statements that they have not been able to make an ocular inspection, etc.).”

“Two years later, they still have nothing, not a single piece of evidence of terrorism, sedition and conspiracy against Jeanine Añez“, says Áñez in her letter.

Last year, the former Bolivian president was sentenced to serve ten years in prison for her alleged responsibility in the “coup d’état II” case, amid the events that led to the resignation of Evo Morales from the presidency after committing electoral fraud in the presidential elections of November 2019.

Áñez is still being prosecuted for two more cases for alleged responsibility.

Recently, the Bolivian Justice, controlled by the ruling Movement Towards Socialism (MAS), expanded the investigations against her, presuming her to be a participant in the crimes of genocide, homicide, and severe injuries against the people of Senkata 3 years ago.
