Disappointed allies say Lula and PT party spread fake news, want to change the past and have schizophrenic discourse

A little over a month after the inauguration, politicians who supported the so-called “broad front” to bring down Bolsonaro are disappointed with President Lula da Silva.

The group reacted to a PT resolution published on Thursday (Feb. 16).

The controversial document says the impeachment of former President Dilma Rousseff was a “coup d’état,” advocates “no amnesty” for the opposition, calls the Lava Jato prosecutors a “gang,” advocates the independence of the Central Bank, and calls the accusations against the party related to the Mensalão and Petrolão scandals “false.”

“It’s sad that the PT, an important party, in a document of the acronym, decides to spread fake news,” said Congressman Baleia Rossi (MDB-SP) in an interview with the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, published on Friday, 17.

“Talking about a coup is stupid,” added the president of Cidadania, Roberto Freire.

“Lula cannot make this PT resolution his own. He is governing with the support of several leaders who supported Dilma’s impeachment. Voting for him was for democracy, and democracy cannot live in permanent fracture.”

One of the authors of Rousseff’s impeachment request, jurist Miguel Reale also upped the ante with the PT.

“The PT filed more than 50 requests for impeachment against Fernando Henrique Cardoso,” he recalled.

For him, the discourse of the PT is “schizophrenic and without a foot in reality.” “They want to reconstruct the past,” the lawyer noted.

“Lula spoke before the leadership of a party that he leads, that has its own culture, program, and vision of political facts that do not coincide in all points with the other components of the front that elected him and with whom he intends to govern,” said former Chancellor Aloysio Nunes, who has been with the PT candidate since the first round.

“Diversity can be his strength as long as we can establish a common program to guide his actions in the government and Congress.”

Even sectors of União Brasil, which today occupies government ministries, upped the tone.

“Everyone does self-criticism daily,” observed Congressman Danilo Forte (CE).

“It is necessary to learn from past mistakes to build a more peaceful future. The PT skipped this part. The party needs to put on the sandals of humility.”

LULA’S DOCUMENT WAS CRITICIZED BY THE “BROAD FRONT”

The document accuses the military and Bolsonaro of provoking a “wave of violence, hatred, intolerance and discrimination” in society.

It also speaks of “continuing the fight for the culpability and punishment of all those involved.”

The text states, “the slogan ‘no amnesty’ should be an imperative of the party to blame those responsible and demand that Bolsonaro and his accomplices answer for their crimes.”

At the end of meetings of the National Directory, the acronym usually releases resolutions as a kind of “guide” for affiliates.
