Brazilian congressman resumes proposed CPI to investigate abuses by Alexandre de Moraes

This Monday (30), the federal congressman Marcel van Hattem (Novo-RS) announced that he is resuming the work of collecting signatures for the opening of a CPI to investigate abuses of authority committed by the Justices of the Supreme Court (STF) and the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

In November last year, the congressman even proposed the creation of the Commission, which became known as “Xandão’s CPI”, alluding to Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

Still, the CPI was not installed due to a lack of time.

“The abuses, which increase daily, began with the establishment of the fake news inquiry, opened ex officio, without the due participation of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and in disregard of the principle of the natural judge, to investigate the propagation of news supposed to be affecting the honorability and safety of that Court, its members, and their families,” says an excerpt of the new request.
