Tarcísio de Freitas says his government “will not give up a person as talented and brilliant as Paulo Guedes”.
“He is highly qualified, brilliant, and has done a great job, and I want a person of his type on my side,” noted the governor.
Initially, Guedes had been invited to be Treasury Secretary in the Tarcísio administration, but he declined.
In his place, the governor chose economist Samuel Kinoshita, former Guedes’ assistant in the ministry.
Kinoshita integrated the transition team and was already pointed out as the governor’s “plan B” for the position.
