Lula da Silva’s Labor Minister says iFood and Uber are “slave jobs”

The Brazilian Minister of Labor, Luiz Marinho, made criticism of app companies that provide delivery services such as Uber and iFood.

On Wednesday (Janv. 25), Marinho declared that informal work serves to “exploit the worker” and defended the regulation of apps.

The PT minister also said that it is necessary to inspect the companies and compared them to slave labor.

“There is a lot of slave work in Brazil that society tolerates,” he said.

Then he added: “We will establish remuneration standards, and social protection”.

“An app worker, a truck driver, a motorcycle taxi driver, motorcycle courier has no security. It needs to be regulated.”
