The number of people with CAC registration jumped by 475%, from 117,500 in 2018 to 675,000 in 2022.

The increase in CACs has been increasing since 2019, which registered approximately 80,000 releases. In 2020, there were almost 140,000, already in 2021 the number increased to 260,000. Last year, there were 431,131 authorizations.

Over four years, Bolsonaro edited decrees facilitating gun ownership in the country.

The measures, however, were partially suspended by the Federal Supreme Court in 2022.

The policy of facilitating access to weapons was a policy to combat violence adopted by the federal government. During this period, the number of homicides in the country fell.

Already on his first day in office, President Lula da Silva signed a decree to modify the rules of gun policy.

Among the measures, he suspended the issuance of new licenses for CACs and determined that the category cannot transport the loaded weapon.
