The Brazilian Army avoided carrying out arrests in the ‘Bolsonarist camps’

The former commander of the Military Police of Brasilia Fabio Augusto Vieira has assured that the Army avoided making arrests the day of the assault in a Bolsonaro camp set up in front of the Armed Forces Headquarters in the Brazilian capital.

After being required by the Brazilian justice for his alleged negligence during the management of the assault and collusion with those responsible, Vieira has detailed that the members of the Army did not carry out the arrest warrants and rejected the attempts to demobilize the camp, has reported ‘O Globo’.

According to the former commander, after control of the headquarters of the three powers was resumed, the Brasilia Military Police (PM) tried to arrest those who were in the camp in front of the Army headquarters, but the initiative was vetoed because the Army was mobilized to not allow the entry of the PM.

Regarding the attempts to dismantle the camp, Vieira has maintained that it happened then because of the refusal of the Armed Forces, which said that the camp was already gradually demobilized.

The information comes more than a week after the Brazilian Supreme Court ordered the country’s Army to dismantle all the “Bolsonarist camps” that existed in the national territory within 24 hours, leading to the arrest of more than 1,200 people.

Meanwhile, the former commander of the Brasilia PM has confessed that he met with the director of operations of the body, Jorge Naimen, who was on vacation the day of the assault and who stated that there would be no risk in the act that the Bolsonarists were organizing, has collected ‘Folha de S.Paulo’.

That day, assailants invaded the buildings of Congress, the Planalto Palace and the Federal Supreme Court (STF), all after a timid action by the PM.

Vieira was dismissed and detained by decision of the STF for an alleged omission in relation to the episode.
