Brazilian Federal Police advises Lula da Silva to parade in an armored car on inauguration day

Members of the Brazilian Federal Police (PF), responsible for security at the presidential inauguration ceremony, recommended that Lula da Silva parades in an armored car on January 1, 2023.

According to Valor Econômico, Lula da Silva’s allies, however, resist the idea of the Worker’s Party (PT) leader taking the route in an armored car and defends that the tradition of inauguration be maintained. The president-elect himself must oppose the recommendation of the Federal Police.

At the beginning of the month, during a press conference, the future first lady of Brazil, Rosângela da Silva, Janja, said that Lula da Silva would parade in an open car during the inauguration ceremony.

Traditionally, presidents-elect drive in the 1952 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith, which is a convertible car.

With less than a week to go before Lula da Silva’s inauguration, explosives were found in two regions of Brasília, the federal capital.
