Brazil’s Senate President: ‘There is no room in Brazil for acts analogous to terrorism’

This Monday afternoon (26), the president of the Federal Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), criticized businessman George Sousa’s attempt to blow up a fuel truck near Brasília International Airport.

Sousa was arrested red-handed over the weekend. According to the Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF), he confessed that he was planning an attack on the day of the inauguration of president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

“There is no room in democratic Brazil for acts analogous to terrorism, such as the attempted explosion of a fuel truck in Brasília, which was fortunately aborted by the security forces,” Pacheco said on Twitter.

“Brazil wants peace to move forward and become the country we all want”, said the president of the Senate (Photo internet reproduction)

“The elections ended with the free and conscious choice of the president-elect who will take office on January 1st. Brazil wants peace to move forward and become the country we all want!”, he added.
