The official Twitter profile of the Imperial House of Brazil, an institution representing Brazil’s imperial family, was taken offline on Thursday (Dec. 15).
According to people close to the organization, the decision came from the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
The profile is the official communication channel on behalf of Dom Bertrand de Orléans e Bragança, head of the House and great-grandson of Princess Isabel.
In a note on Thursday evening, the page called Confederação Monárquica do Brasil, speaking on behalf of the Imperial House, said it was unaware of the reason for the censorship and would make a statement on Friday.
