President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT, left) said on Thursday (Nov. 24) that the government needs to convince the population about vaccines’ effectiveness and said Christians could be blamed for deaths in the pandemic.
The statement was made to healthcare representatives, writes BSM in its latest report.
“I intend to go to several evangelical churches and discuss with their leaders: ‘Look, what is your behavior regarding this issue of vaccines?”
Then he would threaten them by saying, “we are going to hold you responsible for the deaths of people.
Lula da Silva was referring to pastors who, for some reason, have questioned the effectiveness of mass vaccination.
Lula da Silva also said that his government would focus on the complete implementation of the National Immunization Program (PNI), increasing vaccination coverage, also promising a broad fight against what he calls “fake news”.
LULA DA SILVA AND THE CHRISTIANS
During the elections, Lula da Silva’s connection to Nicaragua’s dictator, Daniel Ortega, was a cause for concern among the country’s Christians.
In Nicaragua, Ortega persecuted Christians by closing radios, expelling congregations, and even imprisoning priests.
The rapprochement between the former president and Ortega was censored by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) during the 2022 election.
It was not allowed to be mentioned or talked about.
Lula da Silva, who has the support of the high clergy of the Catholic Church in Brazil, has tried to get closer to evangelical sectors.
