Brazilian VP Hamilton Mourão says the “conservative right” needs to fight the “revolutionary left”

The Brazilian Vice President and senator-elect, Hamilton Mourão, has posted on his social networks calling on the “conservative right” to fight the “revolutionary left.”

Mourão says it is “necessary” to restore the “democratic rule of law.”

“Today, we are heading for the precipice,” says the vice president when referring to the decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes to fine the Liberal Party PL R$22.9 (US$ 4)million for presenting evidence that there was inconsistency in part of the electronic ballot boxes used in the 2022 electoral process.

Read in full:

“Today, we are experiencing, nationally, a justified controversy due to the issue of the reliability of electronic ballot boxes and the blunt and exacerbated actions of the TSE.”

“The recent PL appeal, filed more than 20 days after the official proclamation of the election results, does not give the TSE the right to reject it peremptorily and extrapolate, once again, using an absurd fine and inclusion of the plaintiffs in the notoriously illegal investigation.”

Discretionary suppression of the right to appeal and disproportionate sanctions constitute revenge, everything the country does not need now.

Add to this state of affairs the picture of the President of the TSE flanked by some Military Police Commanders, materializing the apex of authoritarianism and mortally wounding the federative pact.

The time has come for the conservative right to organize itself to fight the revolutionary left. It is necessary to react with firmness, prudence, and knowledge, within the democratic and constitutional dictates to reestablish the Democratic Rule of Law in Brazil.
