Flavio Dino is cited as a possible nominee of da Silva to the Brazilian Supreme Court

The former governor of Maranhão and senator-elect, Flávio Dino, is listed for one of the nominations that the president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will have for the STF (Supreme Court) during his term.

Dino is a law professor and former judge. During Lula da Silva’s new term, they will retire and will need to be replaced in the Supreme Court:

Ricardo Lewandowski – turns 75 on May 11, 2023;
Rosa Weber – turns 75 on October 2, 2023.

This is not the only position for which the senator-elect is speculated. More than for the STF, he is mentioned as a possible justice minister under Lula da Silva.

Dino is the only politician the PT president has indicated publicly that he may integrate his new government.

“He will be elected senator, but not senator for a long time,” da Silva said in September.

Around the president-elect, the interpretation is that he won’t hammer out a name for the STF so soon. He will probably think about the matter for as long as possible.

As shown in Drive, a newsletter for subscribers produced by the Poder360 team, there is speculation that Ricardo Lewandowski may be the Minister of Justice in the new government.

Lula talked about creating 13 ministries during the pre-campaign and the campaign. Discounting the divisions, his government should have at least 34 ministries.
