Champion of the Brazil Cup after beating Corinthians on Wednesday, October 19, Flamengo now expects to receive from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) the amount of R$60 million (US$11.4 million) for the title at the Maracanã stadium.
Before that, the”Rubro-Negro team” had already earned R$16.8 million by qualifying for the semifinals, which added to the prize of victory, giving the accumulated value of R$76.8 million (US$14.6 million) in awards.
Only the clubs that entered the Brazil Cup from the first phase could accumulate all the possible awards – which was not the case with Flamengo.
The team started the competition in the third phase, in which it eliminated Altos from Piauí.
Corinthians secured R$41.8 million, even with the runner-up spot.
The team from São Paulo received the same amount as Flamengo until the semifinals, plus R$25 million for reaching the final.
