Brazil has three resorts among the best worldwide

Brazil has three resorts among the 240 best in the world.

That is the assessment of the British edition of Condé Nast Traveller magazine, which released on Tuesday, October 4, its annual “Readers’ Choice Awards”, promoted for 35 years with the best of international tourism.

In the top 50, announced only by the American edition of the same magazine, which is a partner of the award, there is only one Brazilian.

Uxua Casa Hotel & Spa, a five-star resort in Trancoso, Bahia, which was considered the 3rd best resort worldwide and the “Best of South America”.

However, on the continental list, there are two other national representatives.

Hotel Fasano Boa Vista, in Porto Feliz, in fifth place in South America, and Fasano Trancoso, also neighboring Uxua and ranked 15th.

Every year, Condé Nast Traveller editors gather their bets in several areas: hotels, resorts, airports, and destinations.

The final decision, however, is left to the readers, who vote according to a list of criteria for the best in global hospitality.

These are the representatives from Brazil:

UXUA CASA HOTEL & SPA

Inaugurated in 2009, the resort consists of a set of historic houses in the Quadrado region, the central part of Trancoso, founded by Jesuit missionaries in 1586.

Founder of the business, Dutch designer Wilbert Das – former creative director of Diesel – restored five houses that today make up Uxua, in addition to building nine others using materials recovered from the region and following the established construction pattern by artisans in Bahia state.

Today there are 9,000 square meters in the complex with private gardens, a swimming pool with medicinal properties in aventurine quartz, a lounge, a gym, and a spa.

The resort has two restaurants, the first inside the square and the beach bar, built with old fishing boats.

Both are inspired by traditional Bahian cuisine.

Inside the resort is also Vida Lab, an initiative led by a doctor and a nutritionist who develop personalized nutritional programs based on the local biome.

In the gardens, two old looms produce organic cotton caftans and kimonos, which, along with handmade ceramics and decorative objects, are available for sale to guests at the local atelier.

Both Wilbert Das’ house and other private residences that are part of Uxua’s complete, including that of CNN journalist Anderson Cooper, are also available for rent to interested guests.

Daily rates at the award-winning resort start at R$2,320, depending on the house chosen by the guest. Reservations can be made through the website.

HOTEL FASANO BOA VISTA

Part of the award-winning Fasano hotel and gastronomy chain, the luxury hotel was built on the former Boa Vista Farm.

It offers herefore amenities such as horseback riding lessons for beginners and experienced practitioners who want to ride horses on the property.

It has a spa with two heated pools, one cold and another for relaxation, and two jacuzzis.

There is also a playground.

A modern gym capable of functional training and weight-training with a personal trainer.

A 25-meter infinity pool; an 18-hole golf course spread over 6,800 yards; a charging station for electric and hybrid vehicles, and BMWs that take guests to different parts of the property.

The hotel staff also organizes on-demand events such as weddings, parties, corporate meetings, and outdoor picnics in the common areas if requested by guests.

In the restaurant, which overlooks the hotel’s lake, guests have breakfast, lunch, and dinner with dishes prepared with fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs produced at Boa Vista Farm by the in-house chefs.

There is also a bar by the pool for those who want to try drinks without missing the sun.

The Fasano Boa Vista offers three types of accommodations to its guests.

The first is the deluxe apartment, with 60 square meters, which has a large balcony, a panoramic view of the farm, access to the hotel’s lake – where you can swim – in most of them, and the comfort of beds with 300-thread Egyptian cotton sheets and goose feather pillows.

The second, the duplex suite, is twice as large.

With 120 square meters spread over two floors, this mini apartment has all the details of the previous one but also offers a comfortable antechamber.

The last, the two-bedroom suite, is 180 square meters and has a living room with a fireplace.

All accommodations have “basic comforts” such as a bathroom with a bathtub, flat screen TV, mini bar, complimentary wi-fi, air conditioning, coffee machine, and soundproofing.

Daily rates vary according to the experiences guests want to include in their stay but can cost from around R$2,700 (US$520) to over R$9,800 per night for those who decide to adopt the romantic package, including spa service, house wine, personalized decoration in the bedroom, and breakfast.

Budgets and reservations can be requested through the hotel’s website.

FASANO TRANCOSO

The 15th place in South America also follows the luxurious standard already imposed by the Fasano chain.

Located on Itapororoca Beach, the resort comprises 40 bungalows spread over 300 hectares of land, of which 100 hectares is an environmental preservation reserve.

The materials and design of the units are inspired by nature and local aesthetics, with a project signed by Isay Weinfeld.

There are bungalows ranging from 60 to 206 square meters and different amenities.

The smallest and most basic, called “superior”, has king-size beds and the standard comfort of the hotel, including high-pressure showers and marble bathrooms.

The deluxe version, 87 square meters, offers a private terrace as a differential. With 10 square meters more, the “duplex suite” offers its own living room on its upper floor.

A kind of mini-apé, with 123 square meters, the “suite Fasano” has a loft-style living room, an upper floor with a private terrace, and the option of a connecting apartment.

The “two-bedroom suite” bungalow, the largest of all, has a loft-style living room, two bedrooms with king-size beds, a terrace, and a marble bathroom with a bathtub.

All have amenities such as 300-thread-count Egyptian cotton linens.

Among the characteristic amenities of the Fasano Trancoso are the beautiful Bahian landscape, a swimming pool, a house spa, a gym, and a restaurant (Fasano, of course) of a high standard, mixing references to Italian gastronomy with the richness of local seafood.

Around the hotel, residential units were built for those who intend to live there.

The Villas Fasano of 792 square meters, with five to six suites, and the Villas Gálvez & Márton, with 493 square meters and four suites.

The entire complex, nicknamed Reserva Trancoso, has access to the hotel’s services.

Daily rates start at R$2,200 but can easily reach four or even five times this amount, depending on the amenities chosen by the guest.

Reservations and quotes are available through the website.
