Brazil rose to become the 11th largest market for world tourism in 2021

Brazil’s tourism sector continues to grow, demonstrating its strength in international comparisons.

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), a renowned authority on world tourism, shows that Brazil ranked 11th as the most important tourism sector in the world in 2021 (it was 13th in 2019).

According to the report, Brazil also recorded the highest demand for domestic travel among the countries studied in the same year, overtaking countries like Australia and Canada.

The airline JetSmart announced new flights to Brazil, connecting the country with cities in Argentina (Buenos Aires) and Chile (Santiago) starting in December.

In addition, in July, representatives of the Ministry of Tourism participated in a meeting with members of the WTTC to discuss, among other things, the interest in attracting private investment in Brazil through the Investment Portal.

The initiative gathers an online portfolio of projects focused on the tourism sector to bring together the public and private sectors.

The WTTC report shows the impact of the travel and tourism sector on the economy and employment from 2019 to 2021 and presents an optimistic scenario for Latin America.

The research shows that despite the impact of the Covid-19 health crisis, 2021 was marked by a significant upturn.

A growing trend of 4% was forecast for Latin America over the next ten years, almost double that of the region’s economy over the same period, estimated at 2.3%.
