Bolivia’s former president Evo Morales reported the theft of his cell phone, prompting the country’s police to launch a special mega-operation.
The former Bolivian president said his biggest fear was that the information on his cell phone was being tapped for political purposes and clarified that his device had no security password, according to Bolivian newspaper El Deber.
The alleged theft occurred at La Guardia City Hall during an election rally for Rufino Correa, the Movement for Socialism (MAS) candidate in the city.
Evo Morales had come to support him, and at that moment, the incident occurred.
The local press reported that Morales reported the theft of his communication device at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, after which a special mission was deployed under the direction of the national police commander, General Orlando Ponce.
Security forces and undercover investigators were deployed in the area to identify the person responsible for the alleged theft.
Evo Morales assures that data is stored on his cell phone.
