Almost 50% of the population in the Northeast receives Brazil Aid

According to data from the Brazilian Ministry of Citizenship, with the approval of the Proposal of Amendment to the Constitution – PEC of the Bonds – there was an increase in the number of families receiving Brazil Aid (Auxílio Brasil) in the Northeast, contemplating almost half of the population, about 48.8%, of the Northeast.

This percentage was reached after including 2.3 million families in the social program in July. Moreover, the value of the benefit has also increased from R$400 (US$79) to R$600 by December of this year for 20 million families all over Brazil.

In July, the National Congress approved the readjustment of the Brazil Aid after a great effort by the Presidential Palace and its allies.

BRAZIL AID PER REGION

According to the survey, Piauí state has the highest number of beneficiaries in the region, with 53% of the population registered to receive the aid. The states of Pernambuco, Sergipe, Maranhão, and Bahia also have almost half of the beneficiary population.

The increase in the number of families eligible for Auxílio Brasil also benefited the North region. There, 38% of the population is covered by the program.

Next comes the Southeast, with 20%. The states in the South (19%) and Midwest (13%) receive the least amounts of Brazil Aid.
