PoderData’s poll of 3,500 interviews, conducted from August 14 to 16, shows that in Brail Lula da Silva (PT, left) has a lead of 7 percentage points over Jair Bolsonaro (PL, right) in the first round. Today, the leftist is at 44%, while the conservative president is at 37%.
With this result, Lula da Silva’s lead over Bolsonaro remains stable. Two weeks ago, it was 8 points.
Today, Ciro Gomes (PDT) has 6%. Considering the margin of error of 2 percentage points, he is technically tied with Simone Tebet (MDB), who scored 4%. Sofia Manzano (PCB) appears with 1%.
It is the first time that PoderData tests the names of Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil) and Roberto Jefferson (PTB) in the first round. Neither of them had enough mentions to score. Eymael (DC), Pablo Marçal (Pros), Felipe d’Avila (Novo), Vera Lúcia (PSTU) and Leonardo Péricles (UP) also failed to score even 1%.
In Brazil, the winning candidate must receive half plus one of the valid votes, excluding the invalid or blank votes, to win the first round on Oct. 2, so a possible second round on Oct. 30 is not out of the question.
