Former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s lead over incumbent Jair Bolsonaro has shrunk to just seven percentage points ahead of the October elections, according to a poll released Monday (8).
According to the BTG/FSB telephone survey, the leftist head of government has the support of 41% of voters compared to 34% for his conservative opponent. Last month the figure was 44% and 31%, respectively.
Lula da Silva’s lead has steadily declined from thirteen points last month and fourteen points in May to seven points, according to the poll.
According to the BTG/FSB poll, Lula would win the runoff against Bolsonaro by 51% to 39% if the election were held today.
However, the lead dropped from eighteen points last month to twelve points.
